TEXAS COLLEGE BASKETBALL PLAYER REBOUNDS AFTER BEING DIAGNOSED WITH LUPUS

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL - MON, MAY 21, 2018

TYLER, Texas - A basketball player from Texas College continues to play the sport she loves, even after she was diagnosed with lupus.

Two years ago Corianna Adams (JR/Houston, TX) was told she would never be able to play basketball after it was discovered she had the disease.

"I was kind of confused," she explained as she recalled the moment she found out. "My body was in such a bad state. They were talking cancer for a long time."

The news not only shocked Adams, but put her dreams in jeopardy. She had come to Texas College to pursue and play basketball.

But, her relationship with the sport she had grown up with was going to change.

"She's like, you won't be able to play basketball again," Adams said. "That was the lowest point I ever had, because it was like. . . it took away the one thing that I love."

It was in this moment where she relied on faith and family the most.

After years of perseverance and fight, Adams is now on the rebound.

She was even able to play in her last few basketball games of the season.

"It means a lot to me to be able to play my last year. Once you find that little bit of light . . . you run with it to make a bigger light."
